What News?

Goa Police has become the first police force in India to achieve 100% response rate on the 1930 Cyber Fraud Helpline, which is used to report cyber-related financial frauds. This means every call made to the 1930 helpline is attended without fail.

The state has implemented a new cloud-based system that runs 24×7 and improves the speed and accuracy of responses.

Why is This Important?

Cybercrime, especially online financial fraud, has increased in India due to:

  • Rise in digital payments
  • Easy availability of UPI, net banking
  • Increase in phishing, OTP scams, fake investment apps

In most fraud cases, time is the most critical factor. Money can be reversed only if reported immediately.

A 100% responsive helpline means:

  • Faster complaint filing
  • Quicker freezing of fraudster accounts
  • Higher chance of recovering money
  • Better protection for citizens

Understanding the 1930 Cyber Fraud Helpline (Concept)

What is Helpline 1930?

1930 is the National Cyber Fraud Helpline started by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

Earlier it was “155260”, but it was changed to 1930 for easy nationwide use.

Purpose:

To report:

  • UPI fraud
  • Credit/debit card fraud
  • Online shopping scam
  • Fake loan apps
  • Social media scam
  • Investment fraud

How it Works?

  1. Victim calls 1930 immediately.
  2. Police take details and log the complaint.
  3. Complaint is added to the Citizen Financial Cyber Frauds Reporting System (CFCFRS).
  4. Banks are alerted to freeze the fraudulent transaction before money is withdrawn.

This process often stops the money midway, saving the victim’s funds.

Goa implemented a cloud-based helpline system with advanced features:
